Get your music for nothing and your kicks for free [Free Stu

Published: Jul 31, 2009

Having touched on the ongoing case of the music industry vs Joel Tenenbaum on Monday, it seems only fair that we use this installment of Free Stuff Fridays to give you a heads up on where you can get your digital paws on some free tunes that won't lead to you being woken up by a SWAT team coming through the window in the small hours of the morning.

First up are the streaming sites. The likes of last.fm, Pandora and Spotify (coming to the U.S. soon, if the rumors are correct) all allow for free streaming of your favorite artists, and those that might be related to them (musically, rather than in a Bob Dylan, Jakob Dylan kind of way).

Should you be keen to "own" the music you're listening to—something that makes it a lot easier to put it on an mp3 player and listen to on the go—you can always check out Amazon.com, which offers sampler compilations from various record labels that can be downloaded for free. To find them, try typing "free mp3 downloads" in the search bar. Or just click here.

Happy listening.
