Generation Y: If you're here, you're not alone

Not that we have a specific age demographic in mind here at Pink Slipped, but this article from MSNBC today suggests that we may have to start catering to the under 30 crowd. The article posits that employees under 30 have the most cause for concern, with the unemployment rate for workers under 29 jumping to more than 11 percent in December. Generally, this rate declines as workers get older, but the economic downturn seems to have been the most shocking experience for members of Generation Y, who have met a rude awakening as they search for the opportunities and prosperity promised to the most educated yet perhaps least prepared generation of employees.

So if you figured you'd graduate from college and jump right into a lucrative life of success and luxury, but it hasn't quite worked out for you just yet, take heart knowing that you're not alone. Brush up with some sound advice from Vault, exhaust every option, and be ready to pay your dues.
