Anyone who needs a little pick-me-up -- and isn't prone to small fits of jealousy -- may want to visit CNNMoney's Recession: I'm lovin' it! The ten tales spurred by the faltering economy and/or a layoff offer portraits of perseverance and reinvention. Some of the citizens have branched out into entrepreneurship, found real estate mini-mogul-dom, or retooled a business model (see: caterer to maker of "artisanal cheese spreads").

To be sure, there's a certain amount of happenstance necessary for everything to fall into place. So, Mr. Former Drug Sales Rep (the one who went on to chronicle the best parties in the U.S., and now makes a living off of book royalties): You've used up your lifetime's worth of luck, so you'd better stick with this.

(Note: A nod to DT for the title!)
