10 Green Companies to Work For

Published: Apr 22, 2011

 Job Search

While it can seem like Earth Day is the one time a year that people stop and think about what it means to be green, companies are increasingly building a commitment to the environment—and doing business sustainably—into their DNA.

And it's a good thing too: New recruits—especially the upcoming and most recent batches of college grads—want to work for do-gooder companies, and the public likes to buy products that give back, or at very least, promise not to leave a trail of pollution in their wake.

Whether companies are motivated by a genuine desire to help the environment or simply to ensure that they're keeping up with competitors, there's little doubt that the focus is a good thing. From cutting down on office waste to conserving energy and water, to using office hours to plant trees, the companies on our list are pitching in to the environmental cause year round. So whether "green" is a checkpoint in your job search criteria, or you're looking for green inspiration for your own company, let this list serve as something of a starting point—and feel free to tell us in the comments field of any other great green companies you know of.
