Olympic Gold Medalist to Run Goldman's Emerging Markets Busi
Published: Jan 27, 2011
3.95 GPA? Check. Ivy League undergrad? Check. Harvard or Stanford MBA? Check. A decade worth of bulge-bracket deal experience? Check. Olympic gold medal? Doh!
Look, if you plan to rise to the top of Goldman Sachs' org chart like the big swinging J. Michael Evans -- who was just named head of Goldman's emerging markets business and who does, indeed, have an Olympic medal, which he won as part of Canada's eight-man crew in 1984 -- you're just gonna have to bring back gold.
Also, it might help if, like Evans, you've also headed up Goldman's Asian operations, its securities business and its equites unit.
