Kenny Calls It Quits

Or else, somebody called Kenny to tell him that he was calling it quits.

Either way, the beaten-up Bank of America CEO Kenny Lewis will be relinquishing his duties as BofA chief come January 1, 2010.

Lately, Lewis has taken it on the chin, and in the gut, and even in the kidneys more than a few times for buying Merrill Lynch when it was down and then hiding the fact that it was down.

Early predictions have Lewis' replacement coming from within the Bank of America ranks, so look for current head of global markets and ex-Goldman Sachs banker, Thomas Montag, as well as Sallie Krawcheck, the head of BofA's global wealth management unit and perhaps the most powerful woman on Wall Street, to top the list for possible successors.
