"Harry Wilson, a Republican hedge fund veteran and former member of the Obama administration’s auto task force, conceded to Thomas P. DiNapoli, the incumbent in the race for New York State comptroller."

"The Illinois treasurer, Alex Giannoulias, a Democrat and former executive of Broadway Bank, lost his bid for President Obama's old Senate seat to Representative Mark Steven Kirk."

"John Kasich, a Republican and former midlevel executive at Lehman Brothers' Ohio office, defeated incumbent Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland."

"Rep. Pat Toomey, a Republican and former trader at Chemical Bank and Morgan Grenfell, beat Rep. Joe Sestak to claim a Pennsylvania Senate seat."
