Hollywood Gets It Wrong But Nashville Gets It Right

"They control your money. They control your government. They control your life. And everybody pays."

That's not a quote from Congressman Barney Frank but the tag line for the new film "The International" starring Naomi Watts and Clive Owen and centering around an evil multinational bank. The film, one of if not the first to come out of Hollywood after the U.S. credit crunch began (and later turned into a worldwide financial crisis before becoming a recession and subsequently a depression), has received lukewarm reviews, and has been lambasted at least a few times for its fantastical depiction of finance-related details. It opens today, perhaps intentionally, on Friday the 13th.

For a piece of entertainment focusing on banking that gets it right, check out country singer John Rich's new song (which he claims to have written in an hour), "Shuttin’ Down Detroit."
