Private Sector takes a peek at climate change

Starbucks, Sun Microsystems, Timberland and Nike are a few of the members of the newly-formed Business for Innovative Climate and Energy Policy. Consumer product firms have so far kept away from the energy forum, which has been dominated by organizations working on climate change, utilities and manufactoring firms. With this new coalition, the private sector seems to be finally stepping up and acknowledging the growing need for due diligence. Their many aims include pressurizing Congress to approve "meaningful" climate change legislation and collectively working toward setting up greenhouse gas efficiency policies.

While these are but a handful of firms, it is a step in the right direction. Let's hope that many more will follow.
