July Diversity Events: NCLR & NUL host career fairs

The National Council of La Raza Annual Conference
Where: McCormick Place West, Chicago, Ill.
When: July 25 - 28, 2009
Conference includes four days of workshops and discussions on addressing the critical issues in the Hispanic community. There will also be a free career fair and the Latino Expo USA at the end, free to general public, an opportunity for exhibiting companies to showcase their brand to the Latino community and build consumer-company relationships.
Some of their workshops divided over the three days include topics like:
- Affiliate/Nonprofit Management,
- Latinos and Philanthropy,
- Workforce Development, and
- Women
Other notable seminars include the US Citizenship Application Session, a "Health fair" and a town hall.

The National Urban League Conference
Where: Chicago, Ill.
When: July 28 - August 1, 2009
Invited speakers include a noteworthy lineup. A sampling:
- President Barack Obama
- Tyra Banks
- Michelle Obama
- Cheryle Jackson
This conference promises a whole gamut of offerings for professionals as well as college students. Combining three events into one, there will be a free Career Fair, a Young Professionals Workshop and finally the NULITES Youth Leadership Summit on the final day in cooperation with the University of Illinois.
The career fair will have over 75 employers on location to discuss job openings and their recruitment needs and processes. The Young Professionals Workshop includes a range of discussions including one interestingly titled "The Political Paradigm: Perception and Reality in the Age of Obama." The leadership summit culminating the three-day conference offers youth and adult workshops.
