To appease those eagerly anticipating next week’s release of our Quality of Life rankings, we give you what you’ve all been waiting for—this year’s Vault Consulting Diversity Rankings!

Well, okay. Maybe it’s not exactly what you’ve all been waiting for, but take our word for it—diversity is an important factor in any job search. Beyond the numbers and the feel-good factor of an inclusive work environment, a firm’s commitment to diversity says a lot about its corporate culture. For example, where might you see yourself fitting in best? At the firm that prioritizes community, tending to the finer points of employee satisfaction by hand-picking hires from a wide range of backgrounds? Or are you better suited for a pure meritocracy, which ignores diversity in favor of a hands-off mentality? Of course, most firms fall somewhere in between; for a clearer picture of where all the top consultancies landed this year, check out our Diversity Rankings.

In our survey, consultants were asked to rate their own firms in a variety of diversity areas. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, respondents evaluated their firms in the following categories: Diversity with respect to women, diversity with respect to minorities, diversity with respect to GLBTs (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender), and overall diversity (the average of all three diversity categories). A firm’s score in each category is simply the average of consultants’ ratings of their firms in that category.

Below you'll find the firms that claimed the No. 1 position in each category:

Overall diversity: Bain & Company

Diversity—women: Easton Associates

Diversity—minorities: Censeo Consulting Group

Diversity—GLBTs: Strategic Decisions Group

Be sure to check back in next Tuesday for the unveiling of Vault’s Quality of Life Rankings. We think you'll find these particularly helpful in your next job search!
