New Business School Admissions App: Clear Admit MBA Planner

I have to admit, I'm a sucker for iPhone/iPod/iPad apps. I even bought an iPod Touch (rather than an iPhone--AT&T coverage in NYC is lacking, to say the least), just for the apps. Foursquare, Angry Birds, WSJ Mobile, OpenTable...and now Clear Admit's new MBA Planner are on my iPod.

Clear Admit MBA Planner helps business school applicants with the admissions processThe MBA Planner is a well-designed admissions diary for business school applicants. It includes deadlines, school details, essay questions, application checklist and more for 22 U.S. schools and eight European schools (including Columbia Business School, Kellogg School of Management, MIT Sloan School of Management, Stanford Graduate School of Business, London Business School and INSEAD).

I told an MBA applicant friend about the new app and he started in on it right away. He added the schools to which he was applying this fall to his "My Schools" list, entered his GMAT scores and began checking off the boxes of the pieces of the MBA application he'd completed. The MBA Planner showed how much of the application he had finished for each school (by percentage) in the My Schools list and showed a countdown to admissions deadline of the round he indicated he was applying. He even wrote notes about essay ideas and interview tips for each school in the space provided.

With all the admissions process apps out there, this one is a winner. Despite some discreet ads with information for Clear Admit publications (that only appear when you click on certain buttons), the app has an excellent user experience. And with the low-low cost of absolutely nothing, it is the best app I've seen for business school applicants.
