More Companies Throwing Holiday Parties This Year

There will be eggnog by the watercooler this year. According to a new survey by Vault, more companies are holding holiday celebrations in 2004. About 62% of companies are having a holiday party this year as compared with 55% last year, an increase of about 7%.
The survey, conducted in mid-November 2004, is comprised of 484 responses from employees covering a wide variety of industries across the nation.
When asked for additional information on what was behind the decision to have or not have a holiday party this year, one survey participant from the health care industry responded: "The economic situation is better; the company earned much more profit."
The survey also found that out of companies that held holiday parties last year, 40% are spending the same amount of money as last year, 23% are spending less and 17% are spending more. 20% of respondents either work for a company that did not have a holiday party last year, or they do not know the amount of money being spent on the festivities.
